The anxiety and depressive disorders are the commonest mental disorders and people with these disorders are often disabled. There are effective treatments for all these disorders, the problem is that even in the wealthy countries like the US, Canada, England or Australia, less than a quarter of sufferers get proven treatments.

Clearly we need to do two things: help people to help themselves, and inform people so they can choose wisely if treatment is available.

CRUfADclinic.orgCRUfAD at St Vincent's Hospital has launched www.CRUfADclinic.org - a web-based patient education system for use by the patients of primary care physicians. There are modules for five disorders: Anxiety, depression, panic, phobia and mixed anxiety and depression. CRUfADclinic is particularly strong in the anxiety disorders (GAD, panic/agoraphobia and social phobia) and in depression where the modules are crafted to the needs of people of varying sex and age.
